Judge Deirdre E. Logan is a graduate of Wilberforce University, and a 1990 graduate of the Salmon P. Chase College of Law at Northern Kentucky University. She was appointed to the Dayton Municipal Court in August 2009 and elected in November 2009 to fill an unexpired term. She was re-elected to the Dayton Municipal Court in 2011, 2017, and 2023.
Prior to her judicial appointment, she worked for the City of Dayton, Ohio as an Assistant Prosecutor, Chief Prosecutor and Deputy City Attorney. Judge Logan is also a former auditor, accountant, and federal investigator.
During her tenure as Prosecutor, she served as a member of the City of Dayton Domestic Violence Task Force. She helped develop the City of Dayton Domestic Violence Protocol and the Protocol for older Domestic Violence Victims and Victims with Disabilities. She worked in cooperation with the City of Dayton Police Department, the Artemis Center for Alternatives to Domestic Violence to create and implement the Domestic Violence Preferred Arrest Guidelines and the centralization of the police and prosecutor domestic violence units.
As Chief Prosecutor, she redesigned and implemented the Ohio Driver’s License Checkpoint Program operated by the City of Dayton Police Department and successfully argued the legality of the program before the Ohio State Supreme Court. She researched, developed, and implemented the Prosecutor’s License Intervention Program.
Judge Logan is active in several legal and judicial professional organizations. She is a current member of the Board of Trustees of the Association of Municipal/County Judges of Ohio, Inc., where she serves on the Audit Committee. She is a member of the Executive Committee, the Court Administration Committee, and Co-Chair of the Judicial Ethics, Professionalism & Diversity Committee for the Ohio Judicial Conference. She is a member of the Dayton Bar Association, the Ohio State Bar Association, and the National Bar Association.
Her commitment to the community is demonstrated through her work on the board of several community and non-profit organizations. She is a current board member of, the Major Taylor Cycling Club; the Dayton Contemporary Dance Company; and the City of Dayton Active Transportation Committee. She is a former board member of, Project Impact; Day-Mont Behavioral Health Care; Dayton Chapter of the American Red Cross; the Dayton Mediation Center;
the Dayton Public School Public Safety Advisory Board; and the Dayton African American Legacy Institute, Inc.
Judge Logan is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated and the Dayton Alumnae Chapter. She is also a member of the Omega Baptist Church.
